The Kitchen: Heart of the Home

The transformation began with a dilapidated kitchen, a space that had been virtually uninhabitable. Studio Minosa was tasked with creating a sleek, functional hub to accommodate a busy family that loves to entertain. A galley-style layout was selected, dictated by the constraints of the existing architecture. Despite these challenges, the result is a warm and inviting kitchen that caters to both the practical demands of daily life and the convivial atmosphere of social gatherings.

At the heart of the space lies a four-meter-long island crafted from exquisite Calcutta marble, fitted with a double-bowl sink to balance form and functionality. Bar stools line one side, encouraging casual chats and interaction during meal prep, while a walnut timber dining table nearby serves as the stage for countless family dinners. This carefully chosen piece ties the kitchen seamlessly to the rest of the home, uniting materials and tones.

Studio Minosa opted for a restrained yet texturally rich palette: solid-surface benchtops in crisp white, warm timber accents, and specially imported grey tiles from Italy. These tiles not only add warmth to the design but also reflect the elegant cohesion of materials used throughout the property, including the bathrooms.

To meet the family’s needs, practical features like a hidden laundry, pantry, and appliances were discreetly tucked away behind bi-fold doors clad in warm wood veneer. This thoughtful integration ensures that the kitchen maintains a streamlined appearance without sacrificing functionality.

The same philosophy of timeless design is carried into the home’s bathrooms, each a tranquil retreat that balances luxury with practicality. Studio Minosa’s designs have received national and international recognition, including the prestigious 2017 HIA Australian Bathroom Design of the Year. These bathrooms showcase a masterful use of space, texture, and light to create environments that are both functional and indulgent.

In the main bathroom, a feature wall of patterned tiles takes centre stage, bringing a sense of depth and artistry to the space. A floating vanity with a timber countertop and vessel basin adds warmth, while the freestanding bath serves as a sculptural focal point. Subtle details, such as the timber ladder towel rack, highlight Studio Minosa’s ability to blend practicality with aesthetic appeal.

Elsewhere in the home, a more minimalist bathroom design incorporates oversized tiles and concealed storage solutions to maintain a clean, uncluttered look. Integrated LED lighting and sleek, mirrored cabinetry enhance the sense of spaciousness, offering a calm and contemporary retreat.
